Hummingbird

Hubby and I went to meet our new baby doctor on Thursday. She's very nice and the appointment only lasted about 20 minutes which was fine with us. We got to hear the baby's heart! It sounds like a hummingbird - thumpthumpthumpthumpthumpthump. Really fast. Apparently that's a good sign. Doc says we're pretty much in the clear of having a miscarriage once you hear the heartbeat (not that I was anticipating a miscarriage in the first place). I never have any questions for the Doc. I don't know if it's that I read a lot and kind of know what to expect or if I just have no idea what to ask.

I had to go have more blood drawn. I'm starting to look like a junkie with my arms all black and blue. Thankfully I haven't had the problems with getting my blood drawn that I did with the IV. I'm grateful for that.

Hubby has taken to calling the baby Fetus. At least until we know what the gender is. He had a friend whose 3 year old brother went around calling everybody Fetus and he thought it was funny. "Hi Fetus." "Can you get me some juice, Fetus?" Stuff like that. I guess it is a little funny but probably more funny when they're not actually a Fetus.

So the time's starting to go by fast. 6 more months and the baby will be here. Now, if only we could get to the part where I'm not sick anymore I think I'd be a very happy camper.
