I Never Dreamed Home Would End Up Where I Don't Belong
Our apartment is being overtaken with boxes, boxes, and more boxes.
We're moving.
For the last year, Hubby and I have mostly enjoyed the apartment we've been living in. It's big, close to school, family, and the freeway. But our neighbors are totally crazy and the biggest problem of all: cigarette smoke.
I don't know why apartment complexes can't be like hotels and set up one section as a smoking section and one section as a non-smoking section. But they don't. And the majority of the people around us smoke like crazy. And I wouldn't mind so much except it seeps through the walls to our apartment. The first day we walked in we were overpowered by cigarette smoke. Air fresheners seem to help for awhile but any time we open a cupboard or closet we get another bout of smoke.
My lungs hurt. My allergies have gone haywire. We've had enough. Our lease is up at the end of the month and we'll be moving into a non-smoking residence.
Finding a non-smoking home didn't prove as hard as I thought it would be. I don't know why we didn't think about this in the first place. We found the most darling apartment in a fourplex on Capitol Hill. It's about the same size as our apartment now for about the same price. And NOBODY SMOKES. It's close to work, close to the U where Hubby will be transferring, and close to downtown which will be really fun. The only thing I'm worried about is sliding down the hill in my car when the weather gets bad but I think we'll be ok.
Now comes the fun part: boxing up everything we own and hauling it to our new residence. We can actually get in the new place this weekend and we keep the old place until the end of the month so that actually is a little bit more convenient. We can take a little over at a time. But we're running out of boxes...
